What is this article talking about? "Ruthless Microsoft's Smart Decision To Kill Windows Phone"? They haven't killed anything. I'm baffled that this author seems to have misinterpreted their earnings report so badly.
What a fucking weird article. It goes on about how Microsoft is fine without Windows Phone, and alludes that they have already killed it. The title just straight says they have. Except, uh, that's a blatant lie?
Never mind the fact the speculation about "Microsoft doesn't need windows phone" is just pretty wrong in the first place: Apple doesn't "need" iPhones, they could make a profit just selling Macs. Does that mean they should kill iPhone? It's better for Microsoft to try and build a brand they can have profits on independently of software sales, since it will obviously lead to more people using their software on their phone which is quickly replacing home computers.
As a windows phone user I hope this is merely a speculation. WP is a great platform for entry level phones. I recently upgraded my WP8.1 to Windows 10 and it runs like a charm even though it only has 512 RAM.
It is speculation, and as I said in my other comment, I'm totally baffled by it. The author has written a whole article about something that hasn't happened.
