What kind of an argument is that?

Send everybody a binding agreement that allows the company to collect data and use it for commerical purposes. Let the users decide whether to sign it.

Surely, if the above is a solid argument, then most everyone would sign it.

"Yes, we held out a carrot, but we did not force any rabbits to take it."
