No no my feminist Internet friend, that isn't what I'm saying. I'm not melding socialism with their sentencing.

My point is: Stop using Scandanavia as an example of something that can/should be replicated here.

If you are a huge advocate, I suggest moving there.

Edit for Detardo below:

Ah, but you are confused about why people provide examples to establish a point! Allow me.to educate you!

Person A: This country does <insert policy> and it doesn't work/I don't like it!

Person B: Ahh, but this other country does <insert other policy> and it works based upon my arbitrary metrics!

In the above dialogue, Person B is providing that example as an implicit directive for this country to match the other.

You're welcome!

You still haven't answered if you find their recidivism rates a problem. It's perfectly fine if your are of the opinion that their system will not work outside their set of circumstances, but you've stated that you find their sentencing appalling without ever commenting on how you view their results.

If you don't care about results, and only about the morality of their choices then state that

I really appreciate this thread. Saving it as an example of using the Socratic method to drive the conversation.

thank you.

You started out with "what they do over there is appalling", nobody said anything about replicating it in the US.
