I personally think that's a load of hippie crap. If that was truly the case then there are already far more successful people than not. Success has an element of perseverance attached to it. If success was easy to attain it wouldn't be so sought out. Content with life is the exact opposite of that, it is accepting whatever you have been given rather than pushing through in reach for a better life for yourself and society as a whole.
In addition, I think that equating content with success is _extremely_ dangerous. As a Swede, I can't stress that enough. Society cannot progress if its individuals are not reaching for the betterment of themselves. This idea is captured best by the Scandinavia's Jante Law[1] and its effects are very well studied and known to be negative to the improvement of society as a whole.
