Our society is too willing to consider the treatment of acute problems as the highest good. Instead of saving trillions by actually prioritizing the major risk reducers (diet, exercise, and de facto calorie restriction via intermittent fasting), we spend trillions on the people and resources to avoid dealing with the roots of a lot of health issues.
Nietzsche was right in denouncing the worshippers of "higher values" who then devalued the fundamentals of life, as if all thinking was done in an ex nihilo space.
