Why would they stop using algorithmic news feeds when those bring in way more clicks and ad revenue than RSS style feeds? I just don't see it changing ever now that sites can tailor their pages for each viewer to maximize their profits and keep people on their site.

The probably won't. They shouldn't kid themselves that they are making the world a better place though.
