And from that follows that the Chinese leadership wouldn't mind a revolution (that they didn't concoct themselves to tighten their grip, that is)? That doesn't follow at all.

You're overestimating your own attention span. Either they "value control" (what a disgusting euphemism) or they wouldn't mind a revolution.
