Across 8 years of activity on HN and more than one thousand comments, I’ve received 4 admonitions leading to this ban -- first in 2015 regarding the history of Diophantine equations and the Western fathers of science (as opposed to it being supposedly rooted in Islamism) which you called a "religious flamewar" (I stand by the history of science, and never discussed those topics together again); one mildly annoyed response in 2017 to someone who was lying about Piaget and Montessori which you said crossed into "incivility" (I stand by these giants of pedagogy; I haven't called someone’s deliberate falsehoods "malicious" or "poppycock" again, nor engaged with vilifiers of either scientist); in a thread 5 months ago I very politely asked someone twice to provide evidence for their claim about an author’s geneticism, which you called "a pointless flamewar" (I quit asking HN liars for evidence); lastly, 4 months ago, in answer to people who dogmatized that there is no energy-efficient way to remove massive quantities of CO2 from the atmosphere, and that capture by plants is net neutral, I pointed out that photosynthesis by phytoplankton constantly removes massive quantities of CO2 from the atmosphere, and I referenced the steady decline of CO2 levels across geological times -- you told me I was "uncivil and/or unsubstantive" (I shall continue to rely on and present scientific facts and evidence). That’s it, until last week, when I mocked some Luddite who had disparaged wealth and technology as "engineering" religion, and who then invoked Dawkins to smash my supposed idols; did he get warned or banned? no, but his first unhinged comment was flagged and hidden two days after my mockery earned banishment. This is what allows you to say "We've given you a ton of warnings and you've ignored them." Your decision appears more prejudiced against the ideas and politics I’ve upheld (likely in more than the few above threads) than concerned with my actual history of participation or my supposedly not paying attention to the few warnings received across 4 of my last 8 years here.
