As a precursor, I don't have anything necessarily against the concept of a mainframe. It's just one big shared computer, not too much different than a kube cluster etc. But if there is one thing that definitely deserves to die in the mainframe world, it is IBM's predatory tactics for vendor lock in. Mainframes running linux I can see being around for a good time.
