It seems likely there are at least some insects that can adapt to the slightly higher temperatures in the rain forest. If now their predators (birds) have gone down, these insects can multiply, becoming a food source for birds, whose population can then recover.
I love insects like the next guy, but we need to stop believing everything besides completely static environments are a catastrophe.
