Advertising cannot be separated from invading individual's privacy. That's something that as an advertiser you can't do without. The original article is something, but it should not be used as a cover for an article that could gain traction on its own.

personal blogs are not the hottest on HN but some do get attention when they are substantial.

invading peoples privacy is what elevated web ads from annoyance to an attack surface, a threat model, and malware conduit. This is exactly why most people use adblockers, or proxy portals to fish out a webpage.

Advertisers have screwed themselves into a corner as they look for a way to make a few more pennies they are rebranding thier product in a most negative shade possible. I dont see an ad and think about information, I used to but now i see advertising and i think threat harrasment malware and criminality. the ad guys pissed in thier own bed and now try to sell it to someone
