A much bigger problem is that these are self reported numbers. people tend to not realize that ever country handles income and social services differently. it's very hard to compare salaries objectively between people from different countries. in the us people have to earn enough to make up for the lack of social services that are available in other countries.

Also most of the foreigners working in the US are paid a contract salary. most of these foreign contractors are probably reporting the amount that their contracting firm is getting or the amount that they are being paid by said contracting firm. or they are reporting the amount they take home. it's hard to tell what they are reporting and it's very likely they are not aware of how confusing their salary information is. but in the end they are very likely being paid far less than the low numbers that are being posted.
