If I end up in an elevator with Charlize Theron I would probably say something on the line of "I always dreamed of being trapped with you so you could not escape from me, but maybe it's better if this time we call 911".

People say this kind of things to alleviate tension, it's completely normal, it is not normal to be offended by that.
