Early in the startup phase, retreat could be a venue to openly address any strategic directional or operational misalignment, bring an external coach to help the executive team share their personal challenges in a relaxed environment. Because a lot of time, personal skill development or scaling up from a founder to CEO, or Engineering to an executive can be terrifying to a lot of people if you are doing it for the first time in a startup.
