Before corporations were people, in the US at least? http://reclaimdemocracy.org/corporate-accountability-history... Not at all going to claim it as ideal, but it's a starting point for considering other possible alternatives to today's giant, faceless corporations where nobody within the corporation is easily held accountable, etc.
