"tech" as seen and practiced by too many people mostly does 2 things: enable total control, and infantilize people so they can't even meaningfully discuss what they're creating. The rest is toys, breadcrumbs, distractions -- plus minor improvements that will be completely undone when the fruit of totalitarianism is ripe.
