Ask HN: What does it take to manufacture a COVID19 testing kit?

There is a lack of testing kits in my city. I volunteer at an aged care center that is now short on staff. There was a positive case by someone who has visited the center recently. I know there are limitations to testing accuracy, but is it possible to create a reasonably accurate test?

I have access to both a university chem lab and a workshop. For the experts on HN, what do I need to be able to make a reasonably reliable testing kit?
