Ask HN: Will TypeScript end like GWT?

1 points| bugrasan | 5 years ago

Basically GWT and TypeScript are cross compiled solutions to bring more type-safety to web that is dominated by JavaScript; and need to be compiled/translated to JS. Both solutions are corporate driven, with large showcase products, Google Wave with GWT and VSCode with TypeScript. When Google Wave bite the dust so did GWT. Well, to date, it looks like that VSCode won't go anywhere.

Is there really a market for TypeScript (developers)? or do you think it will also bite the dust like GWT?
