It'd be neat if there was a more attainable standard for certification of tiny autonomous vehicles which are unlikely to cause much damage. Would be great for food delivery.

What's stopping someone from swiping an extra bag of chicken tenders? This design has the same flaw as the newspaper vending machine box. Pay once, take a bunch. Perhaps people are more honest in Shanghai compared to Western countries.

I expect a combination of facial recognition and social credit score would deter theft pretty well.

I'm kind of assuming (but couldn't quite tell from the pics) that it's more like a mobile vending machine. That is, there is one area for storage and another for dispensing.

Presumably they could have a camera that charges for whatever you take, like Amazon Go stores

Population density plays a role. You can’t do that in a Disneyland, for example.

What is the point of this thing? Aren't we rapidly going towards a future where a job is rare to come by? Why not just pay a dude to bike around and sell chicken. No software updates, no crazy backend to support it, is able to make quick decisions about where it should be to sell the most chicken, very little carbon footprint due to a guy literally using his own energy to ride a bicycle.

Because in the US we’ve largely eliminated the low-space, low-rent food stand as a way for working class people to climb the ladder.

I live in Los Angeles and I would love to see these roaming a neighborhood like the ice cream truck.

How about personalised menu based on previous orders and fat recognition

Too bad no one eats KFC anymore.
