Interesting and telling that they are willing to put up hosting content from Sega, Sony, Disney, AT&T, Activision, Konami, EA, Capcom, ZeniMax, Toei, Ubisoft, Square Enix, Bandai Namco, and many other (often litiguous) companies, but that you can't find a HINT of anything Nintendo-related.

Archive.org hosts plenty of Nintendo content, they just don't show it off - I assume that is exactly because Nintendo is the only one of the orgs you listed that still goes after people hosting their 30 year old games, because they know full well that they can rip their fans off to turn them into cash again every 4 years.

When ROMs are more than a quick Google away, and they have been for a period of time last year until new ROM sites popped up, spending 45€ on some lousy "Nintendo vault" remakes is getting quite a bit more attractive.

Telling in what sense? Just the absence of Nintendo content doesn't convey anything to me.

Hmmm, do they have the permission of the other corps?

Wonderful trip down memory lane. We got a ColecoVision in the late 80s because the “graphics were better” (than Atari) according to a family friend, but we also acquired a module that plugged into the front and allowed Atari 2600 cartridges to be inserted, for the best of both worlds. Weird paddles, but really fun system.

I remember playing two games on the atari 2600:

- pitfall

- kaboom

What's annoying is that games have lost rotary controllers.

Many games are lost in translation... more precisely Lost in Emulation.

kaboom was a really wonderful game. As the game progressed, things got so fast you had to defocus your eyes and un-stare at the screen to keep up. The rotary controller would allow this quick control.

The arcade game tempest also had a rotary controller and is really lacking if using a controller or keyboard.

I guess I may as well keep going.

Marble Madness? not the same (it had a GIANT trackball-like controller)

Pole Position? Nope. Wheel, shifter and pedals. When I got to that one tight turn I would always just spin the wheel right.
