Ask HN: Does HN Tacitly Enable Racism?

Free speech is one thing but silence is another. HN doesn’t seem to want to even condemn a lot of the quietly racist views expressed here. Not ban - simply condemn.

I’m not a person of color and I don’t find the discourse on the site to be “kind.” I would imagine a person of color would probably feel pretty enraged reading some of the quietly yet obviously racist views expressed.

I’m aware this probably violates site guidelines and am OK being banned. I think the community is valuable enough that it deserves an opportunity to reflect on what it stands for.

I am a person of color. I read those comments and got frustrated. I usually just comment/submit technical contents on HN. But recently I have been so pissed off by some obviously racist views that I commented with anger. My username is what I have used since grad school and now my company, so I am not willing to lose it unless there is no choice. Banning me because of this comment is fine. I don't want to be part of racist HN.
