Potentially incentivizes rushing someone into the company because you'll be cut a check. Not because that person is going to be a great fit.

I see the potential, but if they’re not you’ll damage your reputation and you won’t help your work either. Of course, if you don’t care, they made a hiring error in getting you, and it’s metastasizing. Which could happen.

It’s way cheaper for them than the external recruiter fee which has the same incentive problem too.
