Ask HN: Finding a specific HN article again

4 points| zabaki | 5 years ago

First off, HN provides me with loads of inspiration and new knowledge. I often feel that being a part of HN helps me stay connected with the newest form of knowledge. Something that i previously got from the university community.

Anyhow,

I need help rediscovering an article that was on the top 30 list within the past 6 months.

I cant remember what the article was called, but the message stood out to me, and i almost daily think about it. I hoping you guys can help me find it again.

The article was written by a software company founder. Not a massive company, but they scaled up. They built some form of software, and one of his main points was that all these smaller clients bought off-the-shelf software. Soon, larger clients approached and wanted the software. I just remember that the author wrote that once you start providing software to larger clients, that what the software to be customised, then you stop being a software developer and start being a consultant.

I seem to remember that it was published to medium, but i cant for the life of me find it again.

I'm afraid I don't know, but for the record if you want to save articles in the future you can click the "favorite" button under the post title, and then all your favorited posts (or comments) are viewable via your profile.

Did you try using "Search" in the footer?

Yep. Problem is I cant remember the headline, and the main points wont appear in the search since it only shows headlines and comments
