There absolutely are limits, especially on the social side. You don't form as close of relationships with co-workers. You don't get those in-hallway "hey, can I show you this real quick?" moments. At my previous place, a couple employees eventually left to form their own successful company; they bonded because they always went out for smoke breaks together. Unless the company is fully remote, it's harder to get noticed in the company. May be harder to move up the ladder.
