Did you know the mujahideen sometimes skinned captured Soviet soldiers back then?
They called it 'taking off the shirt', if I remember correctly.
Of course, the Sovs were more civilized.
When they got fed up, they would simply have a village bombed or round up all the men and mow them down with machine guns.
...
No the Chinese won't go there big style.
Allthough it could be fun, like in the old days.
Funny people.
Sometimes one wonders if conquering Afghanistan is a rite of passage for the conquerer or the conquered.
But no.
It's a trap.
And the West would promote the matter.
They will just buy the mining rights, send in the mining companies with some paramilitary 'security personell' and ask the Taliban and Pakistan politely to have a look on rabble rebels or else...
Like the French in Mali.
They may even bribe the UN for a mandat to secure their investment, but no nation building.
