I have a python script that calls it every 5 minutes to get my current IP so that I can update my DNS records on Cloudflare. This is because my server is self hosted on a Pi and I don't have a static IP. bombcar|4 years ago It’s too bad there’s not a simpler way to just ask your router what it’s external IP is or if it has changed. You’d think SNMP could do it.
