So, if I created 'whitedevhub.io' and wrote the following:

Together, we're changing the face of tech.
Support White and European-American talent in tech on the first-ever White-owned social job network built on blockchain technology.
I'd be flamed out of town for being racist.

Now, as a non-American, I don't have the same viewpoint as Americans do, but surely the answer to the worlds racist problems is more integration not more segregation ?

The answer to "why is there such a diversity problem in tech" is always "it's a pipeline problem." But when folks try to directly address the pipeline problem, that's racism?

What problem does your whites-only platform aim to solve?

These sorts of things seem so backwards to me. I believe it’s unethical to hire people on the basis of race. Somehow we’ve come full circle.

Oh I’ve been asked to hire unqualified people because of race / sexuality etc a few time.

Flat out refused, and was highly confused as to why I was being demonized for it. Apparently believing a person skin color / gender identity doesn’t matter and shouldn’t affect hiring is now a bad thing. Was real fun when I was told that refusing to be alone with a female after hours is now sexist. Umm, not a chance in hell.

You're missing the point.

The reason for CRT/segregation/intersectionalism in 2021 is to attack the existing power structure and recreate it for the benefit of Marxist leaders.

The "problem" with desegregation and the nuclear/extended family is that Marxists don't get a cut.

You can learn more by reading previous generations of the Red Guard, Red Terror, Maoism and Fascism, which are being copied wholesale from the history books.

Your misunderstanding is caused by not being a good comrade.

I never understood voluntary segregation. Wouldn't segregating job sites to race specific candidates lower the quantity of potential employment opportunities?

If you have a poor background and reduce your world to only people with a similar background, your relative success compared to those you interact with rises.

Read Malcolm X's autobiography and related works.

There are a few big techs out there with commitments to hire or have teams composed of x% black people. If that's a hard or large enough problem, solutions like that website naturally pop up.

I wonder if in tech we're crossing the threshold between equality of opportunity and equality of outcome, how would we know? Or if people even think of that distinction.

[+] padastra|4 years ago|reply
That's been crossed long ago...

> Or if people even think of that distinction.

Here in Germany both terms (equality and equity) are unfortunately used in a very motte-and-bailey-esque fashion.

Why blockchain? There must just be a simpler method of hosting a job board. Why decentralize?

You could pay for a lot of cheap hosting for the cost of developing such a complex tool.

I manage serval women in tech in Europe and hint at them to apply to companies with diversity quotas (Our company is shit).

Sometimes you have to play the game to get ahead in life.

Most people are obsessed with fairness. Recruitment is luck anyways, so I do not see the issue with diversity quotas. Sure incompetent people will get hired but that’s life and happens anyways irrespective of diversity quotas.

Do you need to signup to find jobs?

Because neither a simple "Java" nor a "Javascript" query returned anything (also tried using all lowercase).

So I guess being a black European is not going to work.

This is just the news portal. The actual website is at https://blackdevhub.io/.

Why blockchain technology would even be necessary for a job network platform, who knows?
