I was learning to drive in gas-powered car in netherlands. In the middle of the lessons, we switched electric car, hyundai iconiq to be precise. I think sales are higher not because electric cars are cleaner than gas-powered cars, but I think electric cars have way much better user experience inside and out of the car. It just feels more modern and I think people will switch to electric just because of that.

I really think gas-powered cars will become niche.

I sometimes drive my parents (gas) car. It feels so archaic: slow response, clunky, insane engine noise. I love returning to my electric car afterwards.

There is one thing I am curious about and I never see anyone talk about this when a country goes mostly EV. What impact if any is there to the cost of diesel fuel? There are still big trucks, farm equipment and construction equipment that needs fuel. That equipment is not going to change to EV as fast as cars. Has the cost of fuel risen notably when demand from consumer cars drops? I am asking because I am looking at excavators and skid steers. There are a handful of EV excavators but they are exponentially more expensive right now. If I were a business, it might pay for itself but I am buying them for myself.

In Norway the hydro is literally too cheap to meter. Last summer I lived in an abandoned house with electricity permanently on. TV was analog, so it must have been 20 years ago.
