Pretty excited for this to finally be shipping! After years of fighting with WebGL performance and lack of features it'll be nice to move beyond features available on most platforms for around 15 years. Looking forward to being able to use these APIs directly from WASM in the future.

Agree. This is going to be huge for indie game developers, especially Unity and Unreal.

Couldn't come at a better time, with App Stores being front and center with their monopolistic practices that force developers to pay a 30% tax. Shameless plug, my startup is actually working on tooling to allow Unreal Engine 4 developers to ship and host their games in HTML5 using WebAssembly, with an asset streaming system and advanced texture compression. Our mission is to free indies from the shackles of walled gardens by giving them the resources they need to deploy on the web, on their own terms. We provide this as a SDK and hosting platform as an all-in-one solution. We're futureproofing it with WebGPU support for Unreal Engine 5, and are even working on WebXR support as part of our roadmap.
