That’s a whole lot of fluff just to say that they were either paid to do this or advertisers would pull out if they didn’t. It’s all about money and has nothing to do with care for anyone’s wellbeing.

Who's making the money? The advertisers threatening to pull out? Is it because they don't want to advertise on videos that spread misinformation? I thought they could control what videos their ads appear on. This seems more like political pressure.

Political pressure boils down to money in the first place. Youtube cannot exist without advertisers (its actual customers) In this case its money lost not money made. Advertisers with an agenda can basically pressure Youtube into doing whatever they want if they threaten to pull out. In all my years of working in advertising one thing I’ve learned is that advertisers do not care if something they don’t like is contained elsewhere on the website, if it’s there they’ll get their way or leave.
