I would love it if what the US imposed was an actual democracy.

What the US imposed in practice was the shah coup in Iran, which was quite democratic beforehand, which in turn led to the Islamic revolution.

The US doesn't impose democracies, the US just installs its own corrupted dictators. Afghanistan was also just installed corrupted dictators.
