Ask HN: State of Linux Mobile?

Hanging with my 6 year old at the playground today I was please to learn that I could still shimmy up a pole. Apparently my phone was excited too... and took a leap from about 15 feet up.

Now I'm on the market for a new phone and wondering if there are good alternatives to flagship iOS / Android devices.

Is PinePhone reliable enough to use as a daily driver? Is Ubuntu Touch as dead as it seems? What hardware / projects offer a reasonable mobile Linux experience these days?
