Free software like git still works, there is no "MS flavor" of git based on git's source code. This is because git is GPL:d. I'm far more worried about how MIT licensed software leads to companies doing absolutely no sharing.
We're also seeing AGPL becoming more popular. This is great, no more saas bollocks using GPL software without sharing their code.
My hopes for the future is that FLOSS software will become part of the cooperative structure which allows for competition.
Maybe I'm very naive :-).
