It really saddens me to see this. In the early 1990's we focused on reducing crime so as not to let 0.2% of the population ruin things for everyone. It worked. Things got better, cities all over America become more livable and started growing again after decades of decline. Then we forgot the things that got us there, and started neglecting or simply ignoring crime and other quality of life issues and now we're barreling straight back towards the crime-ridden cities of the 1970's and 80's.
