I have been thinking about getting a Honda fit.. or a Jazz as they call it here. What is the boot space like? Wold it be suitable for a small family? 2 adults and a newborn baby?

I like mine (2013 Automatic). A family of 3 would be great in it since you can fold down half the back seat for more trunk space. In addition they make aftermarket hitches so you can add cargo platforms or bicycle racks on the back if you need even more stuff. It may be a bit smallish if you are used to a minivan but it makes up for it with excellent fuel economy and reliability.

The only thing I would recommend is to get a manual and not the automatic. They switched to Continuously Variable Transmissions around 2015 and they have a really bad reputation so far. Pretty much disposable, barely-servicable, and unreliable. If you replace your car every 5 years then no big deal but I usually drive cars for 15+.

Edit: Also the dashboard tends to glare off the aggressively slanted windshield so getting a black dash mat helps a lot. But that is a lot of cars since the Prius popularized the windshield thing. Left quarter visibility sucks so you have to bob your head in parking lots to see around the A-pillar to see pedestrians on your left.
