Ask HN: Anyone else diagnosed with OCD?

If so, how has your OCD been lately?

My answer: I've been struggling a lot with OCD recently, particularly after the birth of my first child. On the bright side, I've recently started tweeting about OCD as a coping mechanism and have found that to be quite cathartic.

After struggling with OCD for decades, and trying medication, I got therapy. One year of weekly CBT paid off. The obsessive thoughts didn’t go away, but I can recognize and deal with them better. OCD no longer interferes with my life or causes conflict with others.

OCD manifests in different ways, and can range in severity from annoying to crippling. If you think it’s interfering with your life, causing conflict, or nudging you into depression, get help.

My wife is trying hard to cope with OCD and is looking for therapists specialized in CBT/ERP. Can you help me with some names of therapists who you think are effective?
