How embarrassing. It doesn't surprise me that HBR ran something like this, but it certainly lays bare how much credibility they should be given.

I wonder how all the crypto/web3 stuff is going to be "unwound" in a way that doesn't make public figures and institutions look ridiculous for taking it seriously

I read it to the end, it’s critiquing web3, not praising it. And the things it critiques (for example, influence of capital over influence of participation) will not be fixed. They can’t say that in an academy publication, but let’s face it, it won’t be.

By laying out what they see it to be, they’re saying “if we roll an seven on this six-sided die”, or what we call “a snowball’s chance in hell”.
