A better headline might be - 'Why users with sensitive information on their computers shouldn't let people take remote control of their computers' - which is the risk being talked about here.

And a more honest headline might be - "Why using Click Beacon™ is better than letting your clients to remote control your computer."

These folks are pretty clueless about pediatric speech pathology work. They are making a claim these kids are logging in and navigating ehr systems to extract phi about other kids. I’m not sure they are aware of target for service here.

Zoom does not allow screen blanking as far as I know. Remote access in these settings is both Monitored and can be canceled.

So this is a series of weird if statements. If this disabled kid gets up and runs to file cabinet in office, opens it, funds a file and extracts data phi is violated. Sure but pretty darn unlikely

> our innovative Click Beacon™. Ambiki's Click Beacon™ allows the therapist to visually see where on their screen the patient clicks

Innovative? Really? TeamViewer and AnyDesk have both had that feature for a long time, and they are not pretending like it's some kind of amazing breakthrough.

Why wouldn't you just use something like Jitsi Meet, which you can easily self-host and know exactly where all the data is?

sofixa|3 years ago

> you can easily self-host

That's why. You need to host it, maintain it, update it, secure it, back it up, monitor it, ensure it has enough resources to run smoothly and a million other things. Most businesses, regardless of sector, don't have the resources or desire to do that. Many rely on shitty MSPs selling junk and misconfiguring it, what makes you think they would be capable of self-hosting anything?
