I will be discussing with Lenora Billings-Harris (https://www.linkedin.com/in/lbillingsharris/) about microaggressions towards black women at work.
Research has established that 84% of people in minority subgroups face some form of microaggressions at work. This is more severe towards black women.
We will be discussing various types of microaggressions that black women face, such as: - Being asked to speak as a representative for a group of people like you. - Burdened to communicate in a way that feels inauthentic of who you are. - Needing to correct others’ assumptions about your personal life. - Hearing derogatory comments or jokes about people like you. - Being excluded from social events. - Receiving comments about your appearance
We will also cover topics on how companies can address these.
