It’s a shame lithium is in a shortage due to the heat crisis in China, electric car batteries may be hard to come by

Isn’t there an energy shortage in Europe? How are electric cars a good idea a 1$/kw hr

It is possible to generate electricity from sources other than fossil fuels.

It is not possible to drive a combustion engine from sources other than fossil fuels (except in very rare circumstances).

Removing fossil-fuel burning cars from the road reduces the national fuel burden, making the generation of electricity cheaper.

That's a pretty short termist comment.. this is part of the plan to tackle and reduce co2 emissions and has nothing to do with reducing overall costs.. besides, I don't know if you noticed but electricity is not the only form of energy which has skyrocketed in price, gas/diesel has is currently very expensive in Europe as well. Since your alternative (ice vehicle) has become proportionally as expensive, the cost benefit of electric cars still holds.

What's the lease for a gas car? What's the term? There's a mention of $6,000 subsidy a car costing up to $47,000.

Is this an actual plan or a campaign promise? I can't see this being feasible without some other details

I'm not sure it's the role of the article to provide you with every detail to judge if it's feasible.

If they can make it work, the progressives are actually waking up to reality.
