Not news (the article is from 2016!) but I learnt this recently and I imagine now the number is even worse after the pandemic and with kids playing less and less outdoors.

And this is also why we just launched the MVP of an online community for outdoorsy digital nomads to find each other, buddy up for activities and monetise their hobbies.
