Beautiful answer. Beyond programming, our society is incredibly overstimulated. TikTok - and now YouTube reels, instagram, etc - are moving towards short form, algorithmically delivered content that gives you a quick dopamine hit for just swiping, and I think it’s killing our collective attention spans. I wonder if there will every be a movement to move away from such platforms, but for now everyone seems always wired in.

There are lots of movements to get away from such platforms, but are underground for the most part. Places like /r/digitalminamalism on reddit. The majority of people are not interested enough and do not have enough self awareness or personal motivations to get away from it.

It's like trying to change the way the world works due to climate change. There's a massive amount of inertia and resistance to make the changes required for a better future.

I think the problem is continually compounded by the shorter and shorter attention spans that also allow the bigger and bigger longer term problems to be unaddressed.
