I think in the near future we'll have deep neural nets that create and puppet an VR avatar for us, while we're sitting normally in front of our PCs. Kind of like a recursive version of a v-tuber: you pretend you're wearing a VR headset and listen to the pointless rambling during meetings, while your boss pretends that everyone is being so much more productive.

This is already happening. NVidia's Maxine thing takes a still photo and animates it according to your video feed. The leap to a VR version feels rather incremental.
