Yeah, wordle was done for after NYTimes acquired it. I immediately started looking for other stuff. Great haul for the Reddit dev that made it.

Wafflegame is awesome; the deluxe waffle will have you busy for a bit: https://wafflegame.net

Quordle is Wordle++, no jokes: https://quordle.com

I noticed FEAST last week.

It is a little off-putting. Maybe I’ll come to like it?

…I’m thinking I’ll get the wordle in one guess next Valentine’s

That writing was hard to get through. Is Slate always written in this style? It reads like a teen magazine

I’m kind of shocked Slate still exists tbh.

I think it's actually a smart move. Your first guess in Worldle has traditionally been one made with 0 information, and therefore people tend to pick a word and just use it every day. By making this change it encourages people to mix it up a bit, and maybe try words they otherwise wouldn't.

Im slightly confused by this.

I don't remember getting feast, but then I'm not American so wouldn't have picked up on it.

But then I've noticed USian spellings of other words which would suggest I'm not getting a UK specific version

Spoiler:

Today a got a word about what fat thighs do.

Wordle, like many things, was acquired not because of any actual utility or value add to the company which bought it, but bought and killed slowly to comply with anti-trust laws, and to prevent anyone outside the big club from getting an atom of public power.
