Truly hilarious. From the four seasons incident to NFTs, he just constantly straddles this line between incredibly sleazy and incredibly funny. I can never tell if it's a bit

This borders on absurdist. I mean, don't get me wrong, I've come to expect a certain level of daftness and self-absorption with the Trump Org, but this is just...weird.

Like not the normal disconnect from reality, but a more disturbing indicator of unraveling. I mean he must truly be seeking any distraction from his growing number of legal threats to think this somehow qualifies as a "major announcement" to the point that the lunacy of the announcement and its subsequent analysis is more substantive than the announcement.

It strikes me as a sign he must be incredibly desperate for money.

It's the new "attention economy". Your value is how many eyeballs are fixed on you. It creates spectacles like this.

Edit: another comment pointed out that this is just Trump licensing his name to a product that he likely didn't conjure up himself.

Ahh, I was hoping he'd have enough sense to at least not make them NFTs...

It's over.

I kind of like them. It is just so absurd and so ... I don't know what. Just the level od self admiration involved in this project fascinates me.

Tragedy.

The dysfunction is fascinating.

- Knowing why a famous person died, can be fascinating.

- In software engineering context, "What is the bug and why did it emerge," is fascinating to me.

And for a powerful leader the result is tragedy.

> ".. exploited low and middle-income white people's anger over their deteriorating life prospects to mobilise racial animus and xenophobia and enlist their support for policies that benefit high-income people and corporations and threaten health."

You ever notice how you only started hearing about Trump around the same time that Andy Kaufman "died young"?

He better be careful with the ever more ridiculous level of grift. I suspect many Trump acolytes are already migrating to Elon Musk as the primary focus of their idolatry.

I guess the Washington Examiner doesn't have comments? I was really wanting to see what supporters of his thought of this.

Cool. Like most of Trump's grifts, I wonder which one of his cronies will go to jail when this one eventually implodes?

I'm having a hard time believing Trump is actually associated with this. From the FAQ at https://collecttrumpcards.com/ :

> Trump Digital Trading Cards are minted on the Polygon blockchain. The Polygon blockchain describes itself as eco-friendly and carbon neutral, which makes it better for the environment.

Trump would insist on whatever blockchain is the most carbon positive.

Trump would assume a blockchain is something to beat the illegal immigrants building his hotels with when they threaten to unionize. He would imagine having one all the time, how it would feel in his hand, the heft of the metal links, cold at first then warmed with his rage, slipping in the sweat of his palms with swing after furious swing. The look on their faces when he came in with it and showed them who the man was, who the boss was. He wouldn't even be able to service a prostitute without fantasizing about it wringing her neck, choking her the way his tiny, delicate hands would never be capable of.

Someone would try to explain it to him but the only thing he would hear, in his head, was the melon-thump of brick against temple, over and over like a savage, yearning drum. He would never actually have the courage to do it, of course, and he would tell himself that it was because violence was beneath a man of his dignity and status, the artless work of low men and thugs, but the king in his mind would wield it with the fury of a gladiator ordained by Zeus.

As a non US citizen I tend not to comment about Trump but it's true that from the outside it's a hard not to be in awe and fear when you look at him and the number of people that follows him.
