D&D is apparently very hard to write about. This writer somehow does it.

I hate, with a burning hate, original AD&D's insanely complex, contradictory, obviously-never-playtested rules that even the authors often couldn't explain in the Dragon Magazine later on.

Fun game though.

The rules lawyer is a stereotype that never quite translated into typical CRPGs any more than the thespian did. And those roles existed in all RPGs and often other gamer geek games back then. I miss those days.

When I've tried tabletop role playing a couple of times in recent years it was all munchkining all the time. About as un-fun as CRPGs but slower and more annoying.

Somewhat off-topic but I remember being initially confused when I read that my employer's health plan offered AD&D coverage.
