- Russia is waging an (illegal) war of aggression
-its war aims are almost certainly not limited to annexing Ukraine
- it is therefore sensible for the West to stop Russia in its tracks now, and force Russia to withdraw its troops from all of Ukraine including the Donbas and Crimea so that aggression is seen not to be rewarded
- those who claim to worry about WWIII are largely pro-Putin activists, which is to say they support rape and torture as a means of aggressive warfare and should be held in contempt accordingly
- there is zero evidence that Putin is willing to risk WWIII as it would (obviously) result in his annihilation.
- delaying the supply of tanks, aircraft and long range weaponry simply raises the cost in lives and treasure of removing Russia from Ukraine.
- whatever cost the US has incurred in military supplies it has recouped twenty fold in increased LNG revenues.
>those who claim to worry about WWIII are largely pro-Putin activists, which is to say they support rape and torture as a means of aggressive warfare and should be held in contempt accordingly
It's more likely most don't want to risk nuclear war because of the spread of some distant conflict that is relatively inconsequential to their own daily lives.
Little too political question, that also might cause big discussion.
Me as born Russian but raised in Europe, having feeling and the Russian mentality in my blood, I can understand why this is happening. Also, that it won't Stop until Putin got his aims.
As European, I say we don't have to fear that Russia is going further to Poland, because this is NATO.
Putin will start a war against Nato, if nato want to start a war. But, Putin would never start a weaponized conflict with Nato. That would be Russia's end. No chance against 30 quite big countries.
So everything must have a deeper meaning. Russia is fighting the West in the Ukraine. The west is fighting in Ukraine with Russia.
We have quite a lot of people who seems enjoying that conflict and want to prolong it as long as needed for Russia to lose.
So. We don't know why and why.
My thoughts about it, this is just a step to the Arctic.
With the warming up of the weather, the Bering sea becomes open, giving a new way for transportation of goods that is much shorter then the actual sea ways. Who's in control of that path will be in control of future tradings.
ATM USA, Europe, Russia and northern countries like Norway, try to position them in arctic area.
Russia and U.S. are doing military things up there.
So.. for Russia, having a conflict and binding Europe's money for years would minimize one player. Having EU and US fighting against each other (economic) would also bind two players..
So... I understand, see, hear, that Ukraine suppressed the Russian minority there (approx. 40 procent of people). And Putin is using that as a reason to start the war. But, not the people are important for him, but rather other reasons.
So. We need to give Ukraine weapons so they can fight for their own country. And we need to see the true reasons (that are not disclosed).
