I listen to NPR’s podcasts a lot and would love to pay a monthly subscription just to pay them back. I just wish there was an NPR+ subscription rather than a per-show subscription through the Podcast app. I have no problem paying $10/month for commercial-less shows but I don’t want to pay that much just to hear Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me without ads.

The way to do this is just to become a member of one of NPR’s member stations, which provide the network its main source of funding (with the Corporation for Public Broadcasting being a distant second, IIRC). The member stations are also responsible for creating much of the content distributed by the network, though National NPR in DC produces the major drive-time news shows (Morning Edition and All Things Considered).

Interesting to see NPR reporting on its own cuts

Probably no one else cares.

The first title is more direct:

> NPR announces layoffs, cutting jobs by 10% as ad revenue drops
