>The price of canned tomatoes has doubled, it said, from £15 a case to £30.

Not knowing how many kg are "a case" it is difficult to say anything, but on Sainsbury's site canned tomatoes are in the £1.38 to £2.50 per kg range.

Considering that on a pizza there could be at the most 100 g tomato sauce, at the most it is £0.25 value.

And this is a retail price.

So - maybe - the issue is about availability in quantities, but not the costs increase of the canned tomatoes.

Pizza without tomato is a treat! It’s typical in Naples and Campania in general: makes good olive oil and mozzarella shine.

I didn't know. Still working through last year's garden harvest in the freezer.
