Drug overdose is the leading cause of accidental death in the United States [1]

It would really help all of us if all media used the phrase "accidental overdose" because that's what they are.

When media uses the word "overdose" alone, most readers believe the individual who "overdosed" was ingesting illegal drugs and knew there was a risk overdose.

This is patently untrue.
